Young Molineaux – Jem I

£600.00

I’m so pleased that the drawings have arrived. Huge relief!

The painting of the gifted young boxer in ‘Young Molineaux’ represents Jem Wharton, an 19thC African American of Moroccan descent. The way the painting is displayed in the gallery is eye-catching and unusual as the subject fights with the depiction of entitled English upper class characters around him. It was this triumphant gallery layout that drew me to depict the scene a couple of times over two days.
